Everything about Natal Province totally explained

Natal was a province of South Africa from 1910 until 1994 with capital in Pietermaritzburg. The Natal Province included the bantustan of KwaZulu. Natal Province was the only province to vote no to the creation of a republic in the South African referendum, 1960.
For almost ten years, Natal was, during the latter part of the 1980s, in a state of violence that only ended with the first democratic elections in 1994.
The entire Natal province became the province of KwaZulu Natal in 1994, following the re-incorporation of the KwaZulu bantustan.
